Although we are still nearly 7 months from our trip several of you haver asked about finding a hotel in Bruges. I have located the Academie Hotel which is within walking distance from the train station and only a 12-15 minute walk to the major sights within Bruges. We don't have any special rates at this hotel, I just researched it out of convenience for you. You are not obligated to stay there. Prices seem to run about $140 a night for 2. You can do it substantially cheaper ($90) if you don't mind walking a bit and accepting a lower grade hotel, most of which are perfectly suitable. Keep in mind hotel rooms in Europe are almost always smaller and have fewer amenities than in the U.S. Here is their website http://www.hotelacademie.be/en/home
You can use Kayak, Trivago or TripAdvisor to research further.
Trains from Amsterdam run approximately every hour or so and it is a 3.5 hour ride. Most of the time you will need to change trains so be aware of what your ticket says!
Note: According to our itinerary we will spend the first night in Bruges. Which means you will be able to walk around town that evening if you wish. Bruges is pretty interesting and a photographers dream so bring your camera. It also has several interesting pubs and I am happy to take you to one the night before our trip. I plan to arrive there a day or two early to see the sights. 2 days is ample for Bruges.
Amsterdam hotels- I will also find a hotel in Amsterdam, which I will post shortly. Note: if you are a hard core traveler you can travel directly from the airport in Amsterdam to Bruges but it makes for a very long day if you are coming from the U.S.! There's nothing like a hot shower and a nap after flying for 7 or 8 hours.
We still have 2 cabins available so talk it up among your friends please.
All trip emails will be posted in the club website under the Bruges to Amsterdam heading in case you need them for future reference.
Only 212 days until our trip!
