  • Ahoy, kayakers!

We have postponed our kayak trip until after September this year in order to be able to park at put-in beaches easily.  After many considerations, we have decided again on the Mashpee Pond site.  However, we have made some delightful alternative options for this trip!

  • ·      Date:  Saturday, October 2.  There will be no rain date because of the Buzzards Bay Coalition Save the Bay bike ride the following day.
  • ·      Time:  Arrival 9:30 a.m.  Departure ~10:00 a.m.
  • ·      Put-In Site:  Mashpee Town Beach, just behind Naukabout Brewery, off Route 130 at 13 Lake Avenue, Attaquin Park
  • ·      Bring:  hats, sunscreen, walking/hiking shoes, picnic lunch and drinks, blanket/sitting item, towel if you want to swim
  • ·      Social Hour:  at Naukabout Brewery afterwards if you wish!  (bring a mask to enter)
  • See attached map for details of two alternate paddling routes ending at the same destination, the north side of Conaumet Neck.   Folks can branch off to the alternate route for a shorter paddling distance or take the slightly longer route around the peninsula.  Note: LIFE VESTS MUST be worn.

If you select the shorter route, you must securely beach your kayak then traverse the narrow neck of land by foot to the Cataumet Cove Ryder Town Beach.  There are some nice hiking trails that meander through the peninsula…so GO TAKE A HIKE, too!

Once everyone gathers at the Town Beach, we will enjoy a picnic lunch together.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • (1) We are requiring that all participants be fully vaccinated (acknowledge at registration).
  • (2) Clean up and take away everything you bring in.
  • (3) Please let a trip leader know if you plan to leave the kayaking group early.
